The Electro Facts

1. The first commercial microwave oven was called the "1161 Radarange" and was the size of a refrigerator (which is kind of a good thing, because then you didn’t have to squeeze in that huge “fatta” casserole).

2. When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone back in 1876, only six phones were sold in the first month (one of the reasons you shouldn’t quit, even if you think you‘ve failed).

3. The electric chair was invented by a dentist called Alfred Southwick (no wonder people are afraid of the dentist’s chair).

4. The microwave oven was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket (that must’ve been one tough stain).

5. Thomas Edison was afraid of the dark (ironically) where he didn't invent the first light bulb but he did invent one that stayed lit for more than a few seconds.

6. The computer in your cell phone has more processing power than all the computers in the “Apollo 11” Lunar Lander that put 2 men on the moon (all this power just so we can text our besties with the latest gossip?!)

7. A small airplane can fly backwards (how are we going to make use of that?)

8. In 1998, Sony accidently sold 700,000 camcorders that had the technology to see through people's clothes (truly they’re “like.no.other”).

9. The first alarm clock could only ring at 4 a.m (then someone shot it).

10. To have your picture taken by the very first camera you would have had to sit still for 8 hours (so stop complaining that you don’t own an SLR camera)
